Why It Matters
Conservation Foundation is partnering with VABI (Venice Area Beautification, Inc.) to reforest the former CSX railroad adjacent to the Venetian Waterway Park. Once completed, the Urban Forest will extend about 1.75 miles and provide a sanctuary for many insects, birds, and animals, and a natural-area park for all to enjoy. Your support is needed now as VABI works to complete the first phase. Gulf Coast Community Foundation has awarded a $100,000 matching grant, raising the visibility of this transformative community project. Your gift will be matched dollar for dollar!

The Urban Forest is integral to the City of Venice's urban design introduced by noted American landscape architect John Nolen in 1926.  This greenbelt corridor compliments Nolen's design principles based on "nature leading the way." The Urban Forest will stretch from the Venice Train Depot to Center Road and will provide a beautiful woodland trail for pedestrians parallel to the Venetian Waterway Park. All native trees and shrubs are being planted so that the forest provides habitat specifically for migratory songbirds and native wildlife.

Venice Plein Air MAP (Meet And Paint) Artist's Jan. 2019

The Venice Plein Air painting group, has now designated the 3rd Saturday in January MAP (Meet And Paint) as their annual visit to the Venice Urban Forest. All Artist's visiting the area invited to be a part, and the paintings in the exhibit reflect vast medium and styles offered in a manner that either 50,70 or 100% of the sale price goes directly back to VABI & Venice Urban Forest. Also you will find that many of the Artists that you collect are offering their work in a manor that you won't want to miss the opportunity to not only collect their work at a great price, donate to Venice Urban's Forest AND having that donation MATCHED 100% !  What could be better?!!??

VABI Urban Forest Vision by Artist Bills Farnworth

 Bill Farnsworth, is the Artist who visualized with this painting, the vision of VABI's plan to keep John Nolen's Plan for an Urban Forest within the city of Venice. 

Venice Plein Air with Bill with MANY ARTISTS came together January 2019 on the 3rd Saturday to start recording that plan, visioned here, coming to life! 

 All Artists are invited to JOIN US on the 18th beginning at 9am officially for our MAP 

 THIS YEAR WE ARE ADDING A Monetary  

Peoples ChoiceAward

All Artist who wish to display their paintings from this years event or their paintings painted with us last year too, are invited to display them for this Exhibit.  People Choice Voting will go on for a month at the Venice Area Beautification Office VABI

 (Stay tuned for the dates starting in mid- February. Join us the 18th. Plan to have your paintings ready to hang by Mid-February.  You will have additional days to paint the Urban Forest for this exhibit. Follow here and at our FB and Instagram Pages for all the details. )

• MON (first Monday every month)
  Caspersens Beach MAP on the first Monday of every month along the boardwalk, or at the end by the beach, or even back on the inter-coastal side.  Click the link to learn more about the park.  It is a beloved favorite and awesome signature natural resource of Venice.  NO RSVP needed. This monthly outing are designed for all plein air painters of any group. 9am-noon aprox
  
• SAT (third Saturday every month) HISTORIC DOWNTOWN VENICE; Venice Farmers Market.
  Venice Farmers Market Until noon, or paint historic downtown, the park reaches to Venice Ave. Too. MAP borders in front of the Historic KMI building Venice Mall on Tampa Ave to Venice Ave, Venice FL 34285 Meeting, the Third Saturday of every month. No RSVP needed.  This monthly outings are designed for ALL Plein Air Painters in any group. 9am to 1pm aprox
  
  The regular Saturday will be a nice addition for some that aren't available during the week to paint out... so hope this accommodates your schedules
  Expect to see Historic downtown districts, Venders, fresh produce, flowers, variety of  people, children, pets, Music Playing and Venice has a water fountain park and Gazebo too as a part of the view. Just a few blocks from the Gulf and/or Awesome Banyan trees too. Farmers Market where can meet, but many places to venture to from there too.  There are great painting subjects in any direction you turn.

Venice Plein Air is on the south west coast located inside Sarasota County in the Venice area serving nearby communities and keys.

ALL The out door painting groups work together and hold no boundaries as to participants.

Venice Plein Air... simply to celebrate the historical of our Venice area and to keep it recorded in the arts... and for the arts to continue to be represented by her artists in the area. VPA actually formed early on to keep this historic town in the Plein Air Records. The additonal area groups offer so much opportunity to Plein Air Paint, and many meet weekly:  Visit the facebook page, that is where share VPA MAPs and when other groups are visiting our area to paint!
