 VPA equals Venice Plein Air
MAP equals Meet And Paint
Schedule for MAPs, three Mondays and one Saturday per month is the goal. Of that two meeting in the morning and two meeting in the later after noon, preferably for the sunset hours.
Simple as that.
MAP's begin again at:
  • MON November 14th: Caperson's Park
  • SAT. November 19th: Private 5 acre BayFront Property Protected by the Nat'l Wild Life Land Trust
  • MON November 28th: Centennial Park Downtown Historical area
  • MON December 5th: Myakka State Park
For safety precaution am not posting all here as public information.

For more information on directions and times please contact facilitator K. Hitt and be sure to put in your memo VPA or Plein Air.
Those on the VPA member mailing list should receive an email with specific information.
PASC is also going to Myakka earlier this month. That may be posted at the PAF umbrella website calendar noted above and/or contact T. Mason their facilitator for more information on their Plein Air outings. To Join a Plein Air Painting Group in your area visit PAF for more info on that too.
The hope of the groups is simply to enjoy the art of en plein air with fellow artist and record the beauty of our beautiful and historical areas en plein air.

Venice Plein Air is on the south west coast located inside Sarasota County in the Venice area serving nearby communities and keys. We are under the umbrella of Plein Air Florida  PAF has many groups through out Florida and the calendar on their web site shares many of the paint outs on schedule. Another group that meets in our nearby area is PASC.  Their usual paint out day is Thurs. Mornings.
Between PASC and VPA there are ample opportunities to Plein Air Paint with a group in this area.

VPA came about to serve our Venice area or South County.  Local artist supporting our local arts and historical scenic communities. Any visiting our area that wishes to plein air paint with a group is welcomed to join our MAPs.  Terry Mason facilitates the PASC group.  I, Karen Hitt am the facilitator of VPA.  Due to illustration assignments and schedule, confess the past year  have not been scheduling regular MAPs.  Terry and (Val before her) kept the en plein air active in the area.  Thanks to Terry scheduling a PASC event at our beautiful new park here in Venice ...was reminded exactly of all loved about plein air and why its an important part of an Artists palette.

That memory combined with the reason why their is a specific Venice Plein Air... simply to celebrate the historical of our Venice area and to keep it recorded in the arts... and for the arts to continue to be represented by her artists in the area. VPA actually formed before PASC ...and the beauty of PASC is how they cover a larger area, and to the north of here.  Just as PASC ventures to Venice, VPA ventures north and south too.  VPA Mondays and one Saturday, PASC thursdays... so if you have an interest to Plein Air Paint, be sure to check out the PAF calendar of events at PleinAirFlorida.org for all the possibilities of Florida Plein Air in our area.

VPA is smaller, as is our area smaller.  Again, all our welcome.
